DUSHANBE, January 30, Asia-Plus — Last week, Tajik power-wielding structures warded off an attempt by Afghan drug trafficker to smuggle a large amount of drugs into Farkhor District in Khatlon. 

According to information from the Interior Ministry, a joint operation carried out by officers of the Interior Ministry department for combating drug trafficking (drug police) and Tajik border troops on the Farkhor stretch of the Tajik-Afghan border on the night of January 27-28 led to the arrest of Afghan drug traffickers and the seizure of 46.225 kilograms of drugs. 

The totaled included 28 kilograms of heroin, according to the source.  Investigation is under way.
