KHUJAND, March 18, Asia-Plus – Within the next four year, family doctors will already be able to provide medical aid to the population in northern Tajikistan, Asia-Plus has learned from Musabiya Abdulloyeva, director of the Khujand Center for Family Medicine.
According to her, a family medicine network should be introduced in

before 2010. “Healthcare Reform Concept pays special attention to the family medicine as priority and main direction of primary medical aid,” said Ms. Abdulloyeva, “In order to introduce the family medicine institution in
Tajikistan
completely it is necessary to train 1,200 doctors and 2,500 nurses before 2010.”
The Khujand Family Medicine Center director has also told Asia-Plus that to date, their center has trained 120 doctors and 45 nurses.
“They currently working in two pilot districts – Ayni and Kuhistoni Mastchoh,” she said, noting that accessibility of medical aid is topical in remote rural areas.
“Family doctor will have wide knowledge and be able to make primary diagnosis prescribe treatment to patients, saving them from long and burdensome trips to hospitals and polyclinics,” Musabiya Abdulloyeva noted.
