on April 1, according to information from the Defense Ministry.

On March 28, President Emomali Rahmonov signed a decree on drafting young Tajiks into the country’s Armed Forces from April through May 2006.  The drafting embraces able-bodied male citizens in the age bracket of 18 years old to 27 old, who are not assigned to the Armed Force reserve.  The same decree orders retirement from active duty of soldiers and sergeants whose service under conscription is over.
