According to information from the U.S. Embassy, the equipment was provided by the U.S. Department of State”s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement as part of ongoing support for

”s counter-narcotics agencies and officers. 

Each contraband detection kit contains a “buster” detection device with the ability to externally scan for hidden compartments containing narcotics, chemicals, radioactive material, trafficked persons, and concealed weapons.

Each kit contains laser measuring devices and fiberscope monitoring units to look inside of vehicles and compartments without dismantling them.   Each kit employs top law enforcement technology and efficiently completes the job of four trained sniffing dogs.

 The 12 kits handed over and comprehensive training by Evan Stefanik of the Los Alamos Technical Associates, Inc., are valued at $250,000.  In total, 32 kits will be issued and training offered worth over $500,000 for the Drug Control Agency, Ministry of Interior and the Tajikistan State Committee on Border Control.
