Muhammad Malikov, head of the international ties department of the Education Ministry, has told

are citizens of 23 foreign countries, including the CIS states.  

On Tajik students studying abroad, Tajik education official said that more than 1,000 people had been sent for studying to other countries for the period from 1994 to 2000.  

“Approximately the same number of Tajik students are currently studying at higher educational institutions abroad,” said Malikov, “416 Tajik students are studying at higher educational institutions in


Turkey


and 407 others are studying in the


Russian Federation


.”  According to him, 52 Tajik students are studying in


Iran


, 44 – in


China


, 22 – in


Egypt


, 5 students – in


Germany


, etc.  

“It is to be noted that students sent for studying under grants of foreign organizations or by invitation of foreign higher educational institutions have not been entered to this list,” Muhammad Malikov stressed.
