’s Antimonopoly Committee intends to open case against the national airline “Tojikiston” and impose a fine on it for violation of the country’s antimonopoly legislation that has led to unfounded increase in individual airfares.

The antimonopoly commission deputy head, Amonullo Ashurov, has told Asia-Plus that the antimonopoly agency is going to take this step after the airline ignored an April 19 ruling by the agency giving it until May 1 to review the individual airfares.

“We gave the air carrier an opportunity to submit within ten days founded calculations for reviewing the present tariffs; however, they have ignored our ruling and continue selling tickets at the set prices,” Mr. Ashurov said.   “If our ruling is not fulfilled, the case will go the country’s

Higher Economic Court

,” Tajik antimonopoly official said.

We will recall that price of the ticket on the flight Dushanbe-Moscow has risen by 65 percent, from US$209 to US$345.

Tajik antimonopoly commission considers that real price of the ticket on the flight Dushanbe-Moscow should not be more than US$250-US$270.

In the meantime, Tajik air carrier considers that the price of round trip – from

Dushanbe

to

Moscow

and back – should be US$600.  The airline justifies its decision by saying that transportation of passengers on international flights is unprofitable.
