DUSHANBE, May 11, Asia-Plus — Rahmatillo Zoirov, the leader of Tajikistan’s Social-Democratic Party (SDPT), will be summoned to Tajik Prosecutor’s Office in connection with his political prisoners claim, Tajik Prosecutor-General Bobojon Bobokhonov told Asia-Plus by telephone.

.  Mr. Zoirov noted that his party was preparing a report on this issue.  

“The point is that there is no legal notion such as “political prisoner” in Tajikistan’s legislation and we would like to know whom Mr. Zoirov has meant citing as examples of political prisoners,” Bobokhonov said, noting that Rahmatillo Zoirov should provide proof to support his assertion that there 1,000 political prisoners in Tajikistan.
