MOSCOW, June 12, Asia-Plus — Russia’s University of Management is interested in unbiased investigation into the latest attack on Tajik students in Moscow, head of Tajik students’ community at the university Tukhtaboy Tukhtayev said.

According to him, he is engaged in probing attacks on the Tajik students at the university’s hostel and regularly delivers statement on this subject at the University’s Council.  “Our community at Russia’s University of Management unites 50 students and post-graduate students from Tajikistan,” Mr. Tukhtayev said in his interview with Asia-Plus.

“We also have contacts with the Russian Education Foundation President Sergey Komkov, who told me that Russia’s Education Foundation and State Duma (Russia’s lower chamber of parliament) have sent an official statement to the Ministry of Interior and therefore he hopes for positive results,” the Asia-Plus interlocutor said.

Mr. Kravtzov, an official with the prosecutor’s office in the South-East district of Moscow, has told Asia-Plus that a policeman was detained in connection with brutal beating of Tajik citizens at the university hostel.  According to him, one of those students has left for the United States for a planned educational mission and the other one has left for Tajikistan.  The other student, participant of this incident, will leave for Tajikistan for vacation on June 19.

In the meantime, Tajikistan has urged Russian authorities to investigate the attack on Tajik students at the hostel of Russia’s University of Management in Moscow.  On Saturday June 10, Tajik MFA sent a note to the Russian Ambassador to Tajikistan Ramazan Abdulatipov, in which it expressed concern about the beating of Tajik students in Moscow.

We will recall that Wednesday evening [June 7] Moscow police officers, about six persons, burst into room of student from Tajikistan at a hostel of Russia’s Management University and beat Tajik students who were in the room.  The police officers also took the students’ money and mobile phones.
