, June 30, Asia-Plus – Officers from the Tajik Interior Ministry criminal investigation department jointly with their Russian colleagues have carried out an operation on detention of suspect criminal in the Polevsky district of the Russian region of

, according to information from the Tajik Ministry of Interior (MoI). 

The MoI source says the detainee is a 30-year-old resident of the Tajik city of


Qurghon Teppa Sharifbek Azizov


.  He has been internationally wanted on suspicion of having been involved in a number of robberies on the


territory

of

Tajikistan


in the late Nineties, according to the source.  Sharifbek Azizov was extradited to


Tajikistan


on June 28.   

According to information from MoI, more than 2,000 citizens of


Tajikistan


have to date been wanted by police for various crimes.  The majority of them are currently hiding themselves in the


Russian Federation


, the MoI source said.
