KHUAJND, July 3, Asia-Plus — A court in Khujand has sentenced two activists of the outlawed religious extremist “Hizb ut-Tahrir” organizations to lengthy terms in jail.  

Mr. Anvar Temurov, a judge at the Khujand court, has told the court sentenced a 29-year-old Qahramon Oqilov to 10 years in prison and a 31-years-old Mirzotohir Anvarov to nine years in prison for membership in the “Hizb ut-Tahrir” organization.     

The sentence followed their conviction on charges of incitement of racial, ethnic and religious enmity, public calling for the violent overthrow of

According to information from the Khujand court, this court alone has considered 20 criminal proceedings instituted against 41 people, including nine women, for membership in the Hizb ut-Tahrir organization since the beginning of this year.
