DUSHANBE, July 4, Asia-Plus  — Dushanbe mayor Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev presided over a meeting of the mayors office on July 3.  The meeting was held to discuss issues related to provision of the population with passenger transport services and safe drinking water.    

Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the Dushanbe mayor, has told Asia-Plus that during the meeting it was noted that the mayor’s office had received 260 applications from the population about the water supply services over the past week.  On 240 of those applications, shortcomings have been removed, according to him.  

“Telling the meeting Ubaidulloyev expressed concern about the activity of Dushanbe’s municipal waterworks (Dushanbe Vodokanal or DVK) and pointed to the necessity of speeding up the repair works on the Dushanbe water supply systems,” Shavkat Saidov said.    

Ubaidulloyev ordered Deputy Dushanbe Mayor, Abdukarim Abdurrahimov, and the Dushanbe Transport Department to take adequate measures to ensure proper functioning of the Dushanbe passenger transport.  

During the meeting it was pointed to the necessity of seeking solution to the problem of covering transportation expenditures within the framework of the country’s legislation.
