, July 13, Asia-Plus – President Emomali Rahmonov presided over a meeting with participation of heads of the country’s power-wielding structures on July 12.
The meeting focused on issues related to raising the effectiveness of fight against crime and drug trafficking, strengthening protection of national border and raising legal awareness among the country’s population, presidential press service reported.
The source says President Rahmonov also heard reports of heads of the power-wielding structures about work carried out in this direction.
Rahmonov ordered relevant officials to take adequate measures to improve activities of the power-wielding structures and the law enforcement agencies, as well as coordinate joint actions to achieve goals stated in the president’s address to parliament.
President Rahmonov sends telegram of condolences to his Indian counterpart over terrorist acts

, July 13, Asia-Plus /Nazarali Pirnazarov/ — President Emomali Rahmonov yesterday sent a telegram of condolences to his Indian counterpart, President APJ Abdul Kalam, over Tuesday’s terrorist acts that killed at least 183 people and injured 714, presidential press service reported.
In his telegram, President Rahmonov, in particular, said “We are fill with indignations by bomb attacks in Mumbai that killed hundreds of people. These repulsive terrorist acts convince us once again of the necessity of combing efforts of international community in the decisive fight against this evil.” President Rahmonov also noted that

was ready to expand such a cooperation and intensify its interaction with

, as well as through mechanisms of a joint working group.
In his telegram, Rahmonov also asked to convey his condolences to families and friends of those who were killed in those terrorist acts.
As it had been reported earlier, Tuesday”s bomb attacks on Mumbai”s train network killed at least 183 people and injured 714. No one has yet claimed responsibility for the attacks, which the Indian government says were highly planned. The blasts all happened in fast trains and inside first class carriages on the Western Railway, one of Mumbai”s three main train networks.
