’s Central Commission for Elections and Referenda (CCER) has prepared a number of draft election documents adding and giving concrete expressions to the country’s legislation on presidential election.

Mr. Muhibullo Dodojonov, the head of the CCER office, has told Asia-Plus that those draft documents determines status, rights and duties of local and international observers.   “It is connected with the fact that the RT Law “On Elections to the Majlisi Oli” contains such norms, while the law on presidential election does not,” said the Asia-Plus interlocutor, “Therefore we have considered it necessary to prepare a special document regulating these provisions.”

Besides, the CCER will concretely determine a number of signatures of voters for candidate for presidency.  “Under the country’s legislation it is necessary to collect signatures of 5 percent of a total number of voters,” said Mr. Dodojonov, “As soon as this total number is determined, a concrete figure will be named.  It will be 155,000 or 160,000 or any other number of signatures necessary for nominating a candidate, depending on a total number of voters.”

According to him, 24 days will be given for collection of signatures and a number of groups of collectors of signatures will not be limited.

“We have also prepared a draft document on providing air time to candidates and their representatives, and on sizes and formats of propagation materials,” Mr. Dodojonov said.

Muhibullo Dodojonov has stressed once again that there are still draft documents and they will take effect only after they are approved by the CCER members and the election date is set.
