DUSAHNBE, August 18, Asia-Plus – Tajikistan’s ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDPT) has set up an election staff in the Rudaki district within the framework of preparations for presidential election set for November this year.  

According to information from the PDPT headquarters in Dushanbe, the election staff in Rudaki consists of 28 people representing all sections of the population.  According to the source, the election staff in Rudaki held its first meeting on August 16.  The meeting worked out a plan of actions and set tasks for each member of the staff.   . 

Similar staffs are expected to be set up at 15 primary organizations of the party in villages and jamoats of the district.

The People’s Democratic Party of Tajikistan was founded and registered in 1993.  The PDPT is the biggest political party in Tajikistan. Its chairman is President Emomali Rahmonov.  The PDPT has a 82-percent majority in the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament).  It is the largest party, boasting more than 102,000 registered members.  Youth constitute some 50 percent of the PDPT members, and women constitute 35 percent of its members.
