KULOB, August 21, Asia-Plus – An extraordinary regional conference of the organization of the Islamic Revival Party (IRPT) for Kulob was held in Kulob today.

Abdusamad Ghairatov was relieved of his post of the head of the IRPT organization for the Kulob region of Khatlon and was replaced by Muhamamdrahim Qarayev, who had previously been the head of the IRPT organization for the Khovaling district.  Abdusamad Ghairatov was elected deputy head of the IRPT organization for the Kulob region for political matters.

Mr. Ghairatov has said in his interview with Asia-Plus that an organizing period in the region was completed and “time has come to concentrate on political work.”

He noted that many in local authorities of the Kulob region considered that the IRPT was religious organization rather then political one.  “In this connection we have to strengthen political component of activities of our organizations in order we will be treated as political force,” the Asia-Plus interlocutor concluded.
