U12 tennis players from Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Afghanistan are taking part in this tournament.  The tournament runs through August 26.

Shirinjon Mamadsafoyev, Secretary General of Tajikistan’s National Olympic Committee (NOC), has told Asia-Plus that winners will be given certificates and prizes in money.  The tennis player who will take the first place will receive US$1,000, second place – US$800, and third place – US$600.  Young sportsmen participating in pair plays will receive US$800, US$600 and US$400 for the first, second and third place respectively.

Prize money and funds for conducting the tournament have been provided by the Government of Tajikistan, according to him.  We will recall that the head of Tajikistan’s Committee for Sports and Physical Training Sulaymon Abdulvohidov earlier told journalists that 125,000 Somonis had been provided for conducting U12 2006 international youth tennis tournament for Tajik President’s Cup.
