DUSHANBE, September 22, Asia-Plus — A scientific-practical conference on rickets problems opened in Khujand today.

Farida Asadova, Family Medicine Project Manager at the ZdravPlus Project, said this conference, which is part of the Continued Medical Education Program, is discussing issues relating to methods of prevention and treatment of rickets, causes of this disease.

The conference has brought together 92 family doctors and medical workers taking training courses on family medicine from Khujand and other cities and districts of Sughd, except Konibodom and Isfara.

The theme of the conference has been chosen by the regional medical doctors themselves, who consider that at present it is one of the topical problems facing northern Tajikistan, according to Asadova.

Four trainers and international trainer from the Great Britain Dr. Phil Simons are also taking part in the conference’s work.

Tomorrow, similar conference will be held for family doctors from Konibodom and Isfara family doctors.
