DUSHANBE, October 25, Asia-Plus – The U.S. Embassy in Dushanbe intends, jointly with Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), to set up an American-Tajik Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Tajikistan, according to Tajik CCI.

A source at a Tajik CCI said that this issue was discussed at a meeting of U.S. Ambassador to Tajikistan Tracey Ann Jacobson with the Tajik CCI head Sharif Saidov on October 23.  

“In the course of the talks Jacobson noted that this joint organization will promote developing and extending contacts more intensively, facilitate seeking business partners and launching joint ventures, holding exhibitions and business-forums as well as supporting and protecting interests of business circles and foreign investors,” the source said.  

Besides, the parties also discussed drafted investment projects and main directions of Tajikistan’s economy needing investments, according to the source.   Energy sector and mining, processing of precious metals and stones, telecommunications, tourism infrastructure, health, education, establishment of processing enterprises both industrial and agrarian sectors were outlined as such priorities. 

The sides also considered issues related to the possibility of conducting training courses in Tajikistan on business management with participation of U.S. experts and holding of an exhibition of U.S. goods and Tajik-US business forum in 2007.
