DUSHANBE, November 13, Asia-Plus — No serious changes will take place in Tajikistan’s personnel policy in the near future, Hikmatullo Sayfullozoda, a spokesman for the Islamic Revival Party (IRPT), said.

According to him, the present state officials will just change their positions, “while the government requires cardinal renovation.”

“A great deal of talk about the possible government reshuffle has been both among officials and ordinary people for a long time,” said Sayfullozoda, “For example, I heard that the Defense Minister Sherali Khayrulloyev will be appointed to the position of Minister of Interiors.”

The IRPT spokesman considers that the new prime minister will be representative from northern Tajikistan again, while the key ministries will be given to representatives from the south.  “I am opposed to regionalism,” said Sayfullozoda, “Moreover, there ought not to appoint persons on the ministerial positions for the purpose of keeping proportional balance of representation of the regions in the state structures.”

According to him, a team of the newly elected president should consists of highly educated professionals and take into consideration national interests.  “This team should differ completely from the present state officials that are thinking only about their own profit and enrichment,” the IRPT spokesman said, adding that he does not rule out that the structure of the government itself will change as well.
