DUSHANBE, February 26, Asia-Plus – Dushanbe is making preparations for hosting a CIS summit due in October 2007. 

A plan of actions on preparations for the summit was discussed at a February 25 meeting of the Dushanbe mayor’s office presided over by its head Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev.  

            Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the Dushanbe mayor, said that Ubaidulloyev demanded at the meeting that public roads along the streets of Ahmadi Donish, Saadi Sherozi, Hofiz Sherozi, Bobojon Ghafurov, Nemat Qaraboyev, Jabbor Rasulov and Karamov, as well as avenues of Ayni and Rudaki should be renovated before September.  

            Buildings at Ahmadi Donish Street, Rudaki Avenue and Ayni Avenue, including the buildings of the Firdavsi National Public Library, the Sadriddin Ayni Opera and Ballet Theatre and the Vladimir Mayakovsky Russian Dramatic Theatre, are also scheduled to be repaired before September, according to the spokesman.    

Relevant municipal services are to provide control of timely carrying-out of repairs as well as proper functioning of cultural facilities, including libraries and theatres, according to Saidov.
