DUSHANBE, April 3, Asia-Plus — A World Congress of Journalists is scheduled to be held in Moscow from May 28 to June 1.

Pulod Nourzod, an executive secretary of Tajik Journalists’ Union, more than 2,000 journalists and political figures from 140 countries are supposed to attend the congress in Moscow, which aims to consider the following subjects: “Role of World in Struggle for Tolerance and Intercultural Dialogue” and “Media and Transformation of Post-Soviet States.”

According to him, the congress will discuss issues related to quality of work of journalists, problems of globalization and concentration of media, and impact of these processes on observation of journalistic ethics.

The executive secretary said that Tajik journalists had also been invited to attend the congress but Tajik Journalists’ Union does not have funds to send them to the congress.  “An accreditation of journalists at the congress costs $20 per day and therefore, we have decided to apply for help to the government and donor organizations,” Nourzod said.
