DUSHANBE, April 6, Asia-Plus – The Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MoEDT) has passed a resolution to raise water prices for all categories of users starting from April 1.   

According to Dushanbe’s municipal waterworks (Dushanbevodokanal or DVK),  the current water prices are 85 dirams per one family member per month for multi-story residential buildings (a 67 percent increase compared to the previous 51 dirams), 16.8 dirams per cubic meters plus 9.6 dirams per cubic meter for sewerage services for institutions funded from the budget, and 54 dirams and 31.2 dirams respectively for commercial enterprises.  

The source at a DVK said that a total debt of water consumers to the municipal waterworks amounts to more than 8.035 million somonis.  The public now owes 3.5 million somonis to Dushnabevodokanal, the source said.    

The source at a MoEDT said that the water prices have risen across the republic but rates will be different.
