DUSHANBE, April 6, Asia-Plus – A conference dedicated to a World Health Day, which is marked on April 7, opened in Dushanbe today morning.  

According to the World Health Organization Country Office in Tajikistan, the conference is considering issues related to problems requiring urgent solution, including health security, preventing spread of diseases, emergencies, environmental changes, etc.  

The conference members include representatives from the ministry of health (MoH), committee for emergency situations, diplomatic missions of German, the United Kingdom, Russia and the European Union’s delegation.

World Health Day on 7 April marks the founding of the World Health Organization (WHO).  It is an occasion to raise awareness of key global health issues.  This year”s theme is international health security. The aim of the Day is to urge governments, organizations and businesses to “Invest in health, build a safer future”.

A high-level global debate took place in Singapore on April 2 2007, in advance of the Day, to raise the profile of international health security.
