DUSHANBE, May 21, Asia-Plus — Tajik capital has hosted the first Central Asian music art festival entitled “Bahoriston.”

The festival that opened today and runs through May 23 has brought together musicians from Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.

Rukhshona Olimova, PR-specialist, Tajik Branch of Open Society Institute/Assistance Foundation (OSI/AF), told Asia-Plus that the main objective of the event is to present and unite creative and organizational resources of national conservatoires of the four Central Asian countries as an important foundation of further development and strengthening of the professional music art in the region.  

According to her, teachers and students from the mentioned conservatoires are performing classic music in the festival and conduct master-classes.  Meetings with representatives of the Tajik intelligentsia, students and teaching staff from Tajik culture and art educational facilities will be held on sidelines of the festival. 

The festival participants will also share experience and innovations on different issues of the professional musical art. 

“The festival events are being held at the Opera and Ballet Theatre, Tajik National Conservatoire, the Art College named after Ahmad Boboqulov, Republican Specialized Music Boarding School named after Ziyodullo Shahidi and Republican Special Music Boarding School named after Miratullo Atoyev,” Olimova said, noting that the festival’s program includes performance of works by Chopin, Beethoven, Verdi, Bach, Brahms, Chaikovsky, Shostakovich, Khachaturyan, as well as known Tajik composers. 

The festival is staged by Tajik National Conservatoire under support of the OSI-Budapest “Culture and Art” Program within the framework of the “Program Through Partnership” competition meaning exchange of experience and implementation of global projects through partnership, Olimova said.
