DUSHANBE, May 23, Asia-Plus –  A session of Central Asia’s Energy Council opened in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, today.

Kazakhstan’s news agency Kazakhstan Today said that representatives from Tajikistan’s Barqi Tojik (Tajik electric systems) power holding, Kazakhstan’s joint-stock company KEGOC, Kyrgyzstan’s NES and Uzbekistan’s UzbekEnergo as well as associated control center Energy have participated at the meeting.  

The meeting is considering issues related to coordinating parallel operation of energy systems of Central Asia and Kazakhstan and providing multiple use of fuel-and-energy resources in the region. 

The sides are also discussing the results of work of the region’s energy systems in autumn-winter 2006-07, foreseeable power systems state during vegetative season in 2007.

On May 22, the Central Asian Energy Council’s coordinating commission met in Bishkek.  The commission considered issues related to power systems state, heard reports of working groups and agreed further plan of its activity.   

The Central Asian Energy Council is established to coordinate parallel operation of Central Asia’s energy systems and provide multiple use of fuel-and-energy resources in the region.
