DUSHANBE, May 28, Asia-Plus – The Information Resource Center for Labor Migrants is expected to be opened in the Hissor district, central Tajikistan, in early June.

According to the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Mission in Tajikistan, the main objective of the creation of the center is to providing information to labor migrants in accordance with their requirements and for the purpose of enhancing their awareness level.

Experts note that because of poor knowledge of the travel and the employment realities abroad as well as legal requirements, many of labor migrants find themselves in irregular situations and are victims of abuse and exploitation.  Many of them do not know where to address their questions or find out about travel and work abroad before they leave the country.

According to the source, the center is dedicated to help fill in this gap by enhancing the awareness level of labor migrants.

The source added that similar centers are expected to be opened in Ay, Rasht, Khorog, khujand and Kulob in the summer as well.
