DUSHANBE, June 12, Asia-Plus – China’s Xian Yuan will submit its project for construction of a cement plant in the Danghara district to the Tajik government within the next few days.

According to Tajik MFA, a delegation of specialists from this country will arrive in Tajikistan in the second half of June.

During their stay in Tajikistan, Chinese specialists are scheduled to hold talks with President Emomali Rahmon and senior representatives from relevant ministries and enterprises.

According to the ministry of energy and industries (MoEI), the project for construction of the cement plant in Danghara was submitted for considered to the Chinese side during President Rahmon’s seven-day visit to China in January.  Tajik MoEI and China’s Xian Yuan signed a memorandum of understanding.

Tajik specialists say the estimated budget for the construction of the Danghara cement plant is some $180 million.  The plant with the rated capacity of 1 million tons of cement per year is expected to be finished in three years.  At first, it will produce some 500,000 tons of cement per year with further increase up to 1 million tons.

Tajikistan requirements in cement are increasing.  To complete the construction of the Roghun hydroelectric power station alone, Tajikistan needs some 7 million tons of cement.

Tojikcement, Tajikistan’s largest cement plant located in Dushanbe, currently produces only 200,000-250,000 tons of cement, while its rated capacity is one million tons of cement per year.
