DUSHANBE, June 19, Asia-Plus — Investigation into murder of Muqim Muhabbatov, deputy chief of border unit # 2111 for rear services (Darvoz stretch of the Tajik-Afghan border) is under way.

Farmon Sharipov, military prosecutor of the Khorog Garrison, told Asia-Plus that they are considering not less then six versions of the incident.  The prosecutor refrained from giving further details referring to the “secret of investigation.”

According to him, the murder was committed by unidentified armed persons, “probably from Afghanistan.”

“Besides, we have to question the chief of the border unit and to clear up for what purpose Muqim Muhabbatov left the border unit that day,” the GBAO main military prosecutor said.

According to him, they currently do not have any information about Muhabbatov’s driver who was taken hostage after the murder of Muqim Muhabbatov.  “We are working in this direction,” Sharipov said.

We will recall that unidentified men killed Muqim Muhabbatov at the Tajik-Afghan border in Darvoz on June 1.  Rustam Abdurazzoqov, an investigator with the GBAO military prosecutor’s office, heads the team investigating the case.
