DUSHANBE, June 27, Asia-Plus — A number of cultural and sports activities to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the National Peace Accord are being held Tajik capital today.    

Peace agreement that effectively ended Tajikistan’s civil war signed by Tajik government and UTO (United Tajik Opposition) in Moscow on June 27, 1997.  

A gala concert entitled “Vahdati Dilho” (Unity of Hearts) with participation of known Tajik singers and music groups is being held at Dushanbe’s Amphitheatre today evening.  

Besides, members of the Dushanbe organization of the Movement for National Unity and Revival of Tajikistan (MNURT), known in Tajik a the Harakati Vahdati Milli va Ehyoi Tojikiston, MPs and members of the Dushanbe legislature (Majlis) held meetings at enterprises and organizations in four districts of Dushanbe ahead of the National Accord Day.

A scientific conference formally titled “National Unity and Public Accord” was held in the City Lohouti Library.  An exhibition of books and canvases dedicated to the National Peace Accord opened at library on sidelines of the conference.   

The races dedicated to the holiday have been held at the Dushanbe hippodrome today morning.
