DUSHANBE, July 9, Asia-Plus — Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister also Russian President’s Special Representative to the CIS States, Sergey Naryshkin, heading high-ranking Russian delegation, arrived in Dushanbe today morning for an one-day working visit.  

According to president’s executive office, the purpose of the visit is for the Russian vice-premier is to discuss with Tajik state officials joint energy projects as well as further bilateral cooperation between Russia and Tajikistan in the filed of energy.  

From Dushanbe airport, Russian vice-premier flew to the site if Sangtuda-1 power plant and from there he will fly to the site for the Roghun station.  The First Deputy Prime Minister, Asadullo Ghulomov, and other high-ranking Tajik state officials are accompanying him on his trip to the power plants’ sites    

Today afternoon, Russian deputy minister is also scheduled to hold talks with President Emomali Rahmon, Prime Minister Oqil Oqilov and the First Deputy Prime Minister, Asadullo Ghulomov to discuss cooperation issues. 

According to unofficial information, the talks will focused on a new project for completing construction of the Roghun power plant in Tajikistan.          

In the meantime, according to presidential press service, the work on completing the construction of the Roghun power plant on the Vakhsh River should start in September, according to presidential press service.

Presidential press service said that $1 million will be provided from the country’s budget for initial work.    

We will recall that Prime Minister Oqil Oqilov last week visit the site of the Roghun power plant to familiarize himself with state of the facility and determine immediate tasks on completing the construction of the Roghun dam.

These tasks include preparation of the construction areas, arrangement the electricity supply, introduction of cooperative enterprises for production of concrete and crushed stone into operation, as well as creation of proper living conditions for builders and selection of skilled and experienced specialists. 

The 3,600 MW Roghun hydroelectric plant is to generate 13 billion kW/h of electricity per year.

Visit to Tajikistan is a part of Naryshkin’s tour of Central Asia’s states.  He arrived in Dushanbe from Almaty, Kazakhstan, and from here will fly to Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.
