QURGHON TEPPA, August 14, Asia-Plus — The Qurghon Teppa military prosecutor’s office has instituted criminal proceedings against two officers from border unit 2720 of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB) deployed in the Khatlon province.  

Rivojiddin Nazarov, a chief investigator with the Qurghon Teppa military prosecutor’s office, told Asia-Plus that those border officers, Lieutenant Mirahmad Odinayev and Captain Qurbon Safarov, face charge of abuse of office for beating private soldiers Sherkhuja Qazoqov and Gulmahmad Azimov.  

“If convicted, the border officers could face up to five years in jail for this charge,” the investigator said

We will recall that last year, another officer from this border unit was sentenced to 15 years in prison for beating soldiers.
