) of the migration service of the Ministry of Interior (MoI) was held in the Internet-center of the Internet Access and Training Program (IATP) of the International Research and Exchanges Board (IREX) Tajikistan in Dushanbe on August 21.

According to press service of the MoI migration service, the same day, a ceremony of handing certificates to migration service officers, who had taken training on information technology, was held.  The training was part of the IATP migration management project.

Sharifa Usmonova, an officer with the migration service, told Asia-Plus that the website aims to promote enhancement of conditions and opportunities of labor migrants through providing information about Internet because the modern information technologies are more and more ousting traditional methods of information transmission.

The IATP migration management project is aimed at raising computer and Internet awareness of labor migrants for the purpose of improving their opportunities and conditions, Usmonova said.

The Internet Access and Training Program (IATP) was established in 1995. Funded by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA), the purpose of the program is to provide BECA program alumni and others with free and open access to and training in the use of electronic mail and the Internet. Additionally, the IATP seeks to empower end-users to obtain and publish on-line information and participate in the global electronic community.  The IATP serves as an access, training, and information source for Internet and exemplifies how it can benefit the daily lives of the Tajik community. Popular from its inception, the program continues to expand rapidly alongside the technological growth in the New Independent States (NIS). In addition to Tajikistan, the program encompasses numerous other countries
