Over 10 kilos of drugs intercepted in northern Tajikistan

KHUJAND, August 27, Asia-Plus — More than 10 kilograms of drugs have been intercepted in a single operation in northern Tajikistan, according to the Sughd police directorate.  

The source at the Sughd police directorate said that two residents of the Bobojonghafurov district, Andurasoul Abdumannonov and Shavkat Egamberdiyev, were detained at the end of last week on suspicion of having been involved in dug trafficking. 

A large consignment of drugs, totaling more than 0 kilograms, was confiscated from them.  The totaled included 4.496 kilograms of heroin, 2.702 kilograms of raw opium and 2.748 kilograms of hashish, the source said.  

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Abdumannonov and Egamberdiyev and an investigation is under way.
