KULOB, September 5, Asia-Plus — Deputy head of the Kulob city committee for land-tenure regulations Shonazar Karimov has been arrested on suspicion of having been involved in bribery.

Alfattoh Roziqov, the deputy Khatlon prosecutor for the Kulob zone, told Asia-Plus that officers from the Kulob anticorruption directorate detained Karimov yesterday, when he was taking $1,000 from local resident for assistance in allotting him land for housing.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Karimov and an investigation is under way.

We will recall that it is already the second case of corruption connected with allotting lands for hosing in the province over the past several days.  As it had been reported earlier, the Khuroson land committee head Usmon Ziyoyev was caught red-handed at the end of last week, while he was taking 600 somonis as bribe form local resident for land-tenure certificate.
