DUSHANBE, September 5, Asia-Plus – A session of the Tajik-Kyrgyz intergovernmental commission for trade and economic cooperation opened in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, today. 

The Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MoEDT) said the meeting had focused on further expansion of cooperation between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan in the fields of industry, energy and transportation, border problems and migration.   .

The first day of the meeting resulted with making a decision to charge relevant ministries and organizations of the countries to speed up signing of bilateral agreements on joint use of water and energy resources, regulation of migration process and protection of rights of migrants, procedure and terms of mutual recognition of rights and use of properties in the territories of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.  

Transport and Communications Minister Abdurahim Ashour and his Kyrgyz counterpart Nourlan Sulaymanov are cochairmen of the Tajik-Kyrgyz Economic Commission.   

The session of the Tajik-Kyrgyz economic commission is being held ahead of the upcoming official visit of Tajik President Emomali Rahmon to Kyrgyzstan scheduled for November this year.
