DUSHANBE, September 5, Asia-Plus – Ferghana.ru – Kyrgyzstan has hosted Sports Games of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

Ferghana.ru said that the Seventh SCO Sports Games started at the Kyrgyz resort Cholpon-Ata on the bank of the Lake Issyk-Kul on September 5.  “Asia Is the Territory of Peace and Cooperation,” that is the motto of this seven-day event.  

More than 1,000 athletes from China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, which are members of the SCO, as well Iran, which has a status of observer at the SCO, are competing in 15 different sports.  

On Tuesday September 4, the first Issyk-Kul film festival of the SCO member nations opened at the Cholpon-Ata resort.
