DUSHANBE, September 22, Asia-Plus — President Emomali Rahmon has addressed Tajik people on occasion of a Day of Rudaki, which has been marked in Tajikistan on September 22 since 2003.rsary of the founder of Tajik-Persian literature Abuabdulloh Rudaki. 

In a message, posted on presidential website, President Rahmon reminded that by government’s resolution celebrations to mark the 1150th anniversary of the founder of Tajik-Persian classical literature Abuabdulloh Rudaki will be marked in Tajikistan in September 2008.  

Tajik president noted that Rudaki, who made a great contribution to development of world literature and culture, is the national pride of the Tajik people.  

“The great master Rudaki created our literature and today, his verses play significant role in development of Tajik national literature and young generations learn lessons of humanism, enlightenment and patriotism from his poetry,” President Rahmon said.  

 We will recall that scientific conference dedicated to Abuabdulloh Rudaki was held at the Academy of Sciences on September 20. 

Researchers from Tajikistan Afghanistan and Iran took part at the conference, organized by Iranian Culture Center in Dushanbe, Tajik Academy of Sciences and the Tajik language Foundation.  

  Abuabdulloh Jafar Ibn Mohammad Rudaki (858-941) was a Tajik-Persian poet, and the first great literary genius of modern Tajik-Persian language


, who composed poems in the “New Persian” Persian-Arabic alphabet script.  Rudaki is considered a founder of Tajik-Persian classical literature


.  He was born in the village of Rudak in the district of Panjakent, Tajikistan, in 858.  Most of his biographers assert that he was totally blind


, but the accurate knowledge of colors shown in his poems makes this very doubtful. He was the court poet to the Samanid ruler Nasr II (914-943) in Bukhara, but he eventually fell out of favor and ended his life in poverty.
