DUSHANBE, September 27, Asia-Plus — The Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) Committee on State Construction and Local Government today met to discuss a new bill on local government.  

Muhammadato Sultonov, a spokesman for the Majlisi Namoyandagon, said that representatives from the government and other committee of the Majlisi Namoyandagon had also attended the meeting.  

The First Deputy Majlisi Namoyandagon Chairman, Safar Safarov underlining the importance of the bill said that it defines organizing and legal foundations of organs of the local government and will promote development and improvement of settlements in the provinces.  

During the meeting, it was noted that the draft law had been projected by group of deputies of the Majlisi Namoyandagon for the purpose of ensuring legal work of authorities in jamoats, settlements, cities and districts.
