Sughd farmers offer Dushanbe residents farm produce at reduced prices

DUSHANBE, November 17, Asia-Plus — On occasion of the 15th anniversary of the 16th session of Tajikistan’s Shuroi Oli (Supreme Council) that was held in Sughd on November 16, 1992, representatives from the Sughd province have delivered 148 tons of farm produce to Dushanbe.  

All these good were realized at reduced prices at farm produce fair that was organized on Dushanbe’s Shohmansour market today. 

Muqim Ahmadov, the head of the exhibition and fair organization department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection (MoAEP), said the Sughd farmers had delivered wheat flour, meat, cooking (cotton) oil, vegetables, fruits, dried fruits as well as watermelons, melons and gourds.  

            According to him, more than 20 tons of wheat flour delivered from Sughd has been realized at the rate of 90 somonis for a 50-kilorgram sack.  The price of one kilogram of meat was 10 somonis, and one kilogram of fish fluctuated from 6 to 8 somonis, Ahmadov said.  

            Sughd farmers have also delivered 8 tons of cooking oil to Dushanbe.  It was realized at the rate of 6 somonis per one liter.

Similar fairs for realization of farm produce from the Khatlon province and districts subordinate to the center (RRPs) were organized on the markets of Sakhovat, Barakat and Qariyai Bolo.
