DUSHANBE, December 6, Asia-Plus  — Open joint-stock company Sangutda-1 HPS is making preparation for introduction of the first unit into operation and television space bridge with Russian President Vladimir Putin that are scheduled for December 21.

The Sangtuda-1 HPS director for capital construction Aleksandr Aldanov told Asia-Plus that work on the site of the Sngtuda-1 station was being carried out in accordance with schedule and the test launch of the unit would be held on December 15.

“To bring the dam to the projected height of 75 meters for the launch of the first unit it remains to lay 1-2 meters of cement,” Aldanov said, adding that one of tunnels of the water-intake facility, so-called turbine tunnel # 1, is practically ready for operation.

According to him, they have to date constructed some 98 percent of water outlets for discharging redundant water.

The rated capacity of the first unit is 167.5 megawatt and it will generate some 72 million kWh of electricity per month.
