DUSHANBE, December 28, Asia-Plus  — The National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT) yesterday hosted a meeting to discuss issues related to funding the country’s agrarian sector.

The NBT press service said that the meeting participants had included senior representatives from the ministries of agriculture, economy, finance, justice, land reclamation, as well as land management agency, president’s office and commercial banks.

The meeting considered issues of implementation of president’s instructions on financing the agrarian sector, the press service said.

On introduction of a new mechanism of financing of the agrarian sector, the meeting participants suggested that a loan should be provided against a pledge and land-utilization certificate should be used as security for loan.

To resolve this issue it is necessary to establish, first of all, an exchange for realization of the mentioned certificate, information posted on central bank’s website said.

The meeting also considered issues related to working out regulations on a procedure of providing loans to farmers.

During the meeting it was decided to set up two working groups for studying legal and economic aspects of the issues discussed.
