DUSHANBE, January 29, Asia-Plus — Starting from January 1, open joint-stock company (OJSC) Tojik Telecom, Tajikistan’s national fixed-line telecommunications, reduced rate for outgoing calls from 16.5 dirams to 4 dirams per minute.
The Tajik Telecom top manager Rahmonali Hasanov noted that subscribers could conclude contracts with Tajik Telecom for this service free of charge.
According to him, the call rate within the Tojik Telecom network remains the same – 2 dirams per minute.
As it had been reported earlier, Tojik Telecom introduced the CPP (Calling Party Pays) model in December 2007, and the rate for outgoing calls was set at 16.5 dirams per minute instead of the previous 2 dirams. According to specialists from Tojik Telecom, introduction of the CPP model provides equal opportunities for all telecommunications operators.
In the meantime, the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MoEDT) on January 7 issued a resolution obligating to reduce the new rate for outgoing calls from 16.5 dirams to 4 dirams per minute. The source at a MoEDT said that the document had been adopted following recommendations of a working group set up by the government.
