DUSHANBE, February 19, Asia-Plus  — the Ministry of Defense (MoD) has decided not to hold a military parade on occasion of the 15th anniversary of the formation of the Tajik National Army, which is marked on February 23, Asia-Plus has learned at a MoD.  

The MoD source said that the military parade is too expensive event, and therefore, it is decided to hold military parade on jubilee anniversaries of Tajikistan’s Independence.    

We will recall that more than 11,000 servicemen from the Dushanbe Garrison, as well as Ministry of Interior and Committee for Emergency Situations, as well as members of the National Guard and Border Troops were on parade in 2006 to mark the 15th anniversary of Tajikistan’s Independence in Dushanbe on September 9.
