DUSHANBE, March 25, Asia-Plus  — The former Tajik Communications Minister Said Zuvaydov, died on March 24 aged 44 after a short illness.  

Radio Liberty’s Tajik Service reported that Mr. Zuvaydov had been one of successful ministers of the country.   All the latest achievements in the country’s communications sector, including development of Tajik telecommunications network, are connected with his name.

When Mr. Zuvaydov was appointed as Communications Minister in 2003, only two cellular operators were functioning in the country.  Today, 13 cellular operators function in Tajikistan.    

Said Zuvaydov was born in Dushanbe on October 25, 1963.  In 1992, he graduated from Tashkent Institute of Communications.  From 1987 to 2002, Mr. Zuvaydov worked with the Dushanbe city telephone network.  From February 2002 to January 2003, Said Zuvaydov headed open joint-stock company Tojik Telecom (Tajikistan’s fixed-line telecommunications network).  In 2003-2006, he served as Minister of Communications.  Since January 2007, Said Zuvaydov had studied at Russia’s Public Service Academy in Moscow.
