DUSHANBE, March 26, Asia-Plus  – An all-Persian TV network will broadcast from Dushanbe.

Based on an agreement reached in Dushanbe on March 25, Tajikistan, Afghanistan and Iran will expand tripartite cooperation in sectors like education, science, health, culture and tourism and set up a TV network in Dushanbe.

The joint All-Persian TV station, which was described as the key to promotion of tripartite cultural cooperation, will prepare and broadcast programs in Tajik, Farsi, Dari and Pashtun languages.

Speaking at a joint press conference with his Afghan and Iranian counterparts in Dushanbe on March 25, Hamrokhon Zarifi said that President Emomali Rahmon had already ordered to resolve the issue of providing premises for the joint TV station.

We will recall that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad proposed to launch the joint TV channel during his visit to Tajikistan in July 2006.  According to him, the joint TV channel could broadcast on the territories of Iran, Tajikistan and Afghanistan.  This joint television will be dedicated to facilitate dissemination of culture of the Persian-speaking countries, the Iranian president said.
