DUSHANBE, March 28 Asia-Plus  — The volume of production of industrial goods has decreased in Tajikistan. 

According to the State Committee for Statistics, Tajikistan has produced a total of 804.9 million somonis (more than $233 million) worth of industrial goods over the first two months this year.  Compared to January-February 2007 the index of the volume of production of industrial goods amounted to 85.3 percent.  

Industrial goods worth 489.7 million somonis (equivalent to some $142 million) have been delivered over the report period, or 97.7 percent of the volume of products produced, and a share of the remainder of products accounted for 35.5 percent of commodity resources.  

Enterprises subordinate to the Ministry of Energy and Industries (MoEI) have produced 118 million somonis (little more than $34 million) worth of products over the same two-month period, which is only 75.9 percent of the January-February 2007 level. 

Enterprises subordinate to the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) over the report period have produced output worth 74.8 million somonis ($22 million), which is 50 percent fewer than in the same period of 2007.  

As far as enterprises that are subordinate to the ministries and organizations are concerned, they produced 405.5 million somonis ($117.5 million) worth of industrial goods in January-February 2008, which is 4 percent fewer than in the same period of last year.
