KONIBODOM, April 7, Asia-Plus — The European Commission’s Humanitarian Aid Office (ECHO) helps Tajik medical facilities make preparations for the next winter.
Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Davron Muhammadiyev, coordinator of programs of the Netherlands Red Cross (NRC) in Tajikistan, said that taking into consideration critical situation in medical facilities in Tajikistan, which was affected by unusually cold weather and sever electricity shortages last winter, ECHO has financed a project proposal by the NRC and Tajikistan’s Red Crescent Society (RCS) for providing large mental hospitals with generators and fuel.
According to him, seven mental hospitals in Dushanbe, Kulob, Qurghon Teppa, Khujand, Isfara, Tursunzoda and Rudaki will be provided with generators with capacity of 23-30 kW each and diesel fuel under this project.
They are expected to receive generators and diesel fuel before May this year that will allow them promptly making preparations for winter, Muhammadiyev said.
