DUSHANBE, April 12, Asia-Plus  — The northern Sughd province tops Tajikistan’s regions in terms of the number of suicide cases, accounting for nearly 75 percent of suicides registered in the country over the first three months of this year, the first Deputy Prosecutor-General, Abdusami Dadoboyev, said in an interview with Asia-Plus. 

According to him, 66 suicide cases have been registered in Tajikistan over the report period; of them, 49 cases have been reported in Sughd.  

Besides, 55 cases of suicide attempt have been reported in the country over the same three-month period.  Most of them were motivated by family and economic problems, the deputy prosecutor said.  

Of a total number of cases of suicide (66) and suicide attempt (55) reported over the report period, 58 have been made by women, 53 by men and 16 by teenagers, according to Dadoboyev.
