, April 26, Asia-Plus — On April 24, the Dushanbe Youth Committee hosted the event formally titled “Women against Drugs.”

 







The event was staged by the Youth Committee of Dushanbe’s Firdavsi district in cooperation with Drug Control Agency (DCA).

 






Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, the DCA drug addiction prevention department chief Alisher Tashripov said that the event had discussed issues related to illicit drug use among women.





Medical workers, lawyers, and psychologists that participated in the event told those present about medical, psychological and legal circumstances of using drugs.





According to figures provided by the Ministry of Heath (MoH), 8,593 drug dependent persons, including 480 women, have been officially registered in the country as of January 1. 2008.
