Qumsangir head sanitary physician faces bribery charge

DUSHANBE, May 2, Asia-Plus  — Nourmuhammad Hotamov, the head physician of the sanitary-epidemiological station in Khatlon’s Qumsangir district, has been detained on suspicion of having been involved in bribery, Asia-Plus has learned at head office of the Agency for State Financial Control and Combating Corruption in Dushanbe.   

According to the anticorruption agency, Hotamov who was also deputy chairman of the commission for housing distribution under the Qumsangir district government was caught red-handed when he was taking $1,300 from local resident for promise to assist with privatization of his apartment.   

Criminal proceedings have instituted against Nourmuhammad Hotamov and an investigation is under way.
